The nursery flooring is complete! Over the last two days (unfortunately, I was only home for one of them), they've taken out the carpet from the "pink" room and the hallway, replacing it with wondrous laminate (a very pale color in the nursery, and a mediumish color to match the downstairs hallway in the upstairs hallway). Things really look great.
We were really hoping that the stairs would be a high quality hardwood under the carpet, but that does not appear to be the case . . . they're a crappy pine. So, we're going to look at removing the Berber carpet from them, staining the pine, and then placing a runner on down -- this should really make things look a little nicer than they currently do while also keeping the advantage of carpet on a stairway (much less slippery).
Next, they're tearing out the carpet and replacing it with tile in our bathrooms (that would actually be done right now, but the tile is backordered). Also, the nursery is being painted with puppies. Pictures will be coming.

The plans for the stairs have changed a little bit as runners are expensive and you have to have those rods that I can just see small children clonking themselves with.
I am going to paint the kickboards white (This is all the rage in newly built houses.) and the treads a brown color. Then I am ordering stair tread rugs. Alex has them if you are someone who has been to her house.
This solution is not perfect, but it will work until we can have the treads replaced with a nice oak sometime in 2020.
Hey guys!! My friend at work suggests bringing along a nail file... babies nails are sharp and long (especially new borns - her son is 8 months old.... so she speaks form experience)....
and also the Swaddlers apparantly are GREAT!
Also - she said some babies might have acid reflux with powder formula... but maybe take along a powder version and also a liquid version, depending on how long you'll be in the hotel room....
Vaseline might work better for the daiper, because if you use the daiper rash lotion (Desotin) that might impair it's ability to work when the baby does have real daiper rash... jsut a suggestion... that is what the pediatrition told my friend at the hospital... only use the daiper rash lotion when they actually have a daiper rash....
Soothies Binkies are also good...
